CautionCanadian and American calling cards can’t be used on the islands. You can buy prepaid calling cards (to be used in telephone booths) for sale in different places in town. 1 - 800 and French «numéros verts» can’t be accessed from the islands. You can use your Canadian cell phone while in Saint Pierre. The reception from nearby Newfoundland is generally good depending on your location. Cell phones in mainland France does not work on the LAN. Get the right plugYour electrical appliances must be compatible with 220 volts.Come with an adaptor : French plugs are round. Some hotels or B&B’s still have 110 volts, please check ! PURCHASESMajor credit cards, American and Canadian dollars and traveller cheques are generaly accepted.
